Father's Day Gift Ideas
Hopefully you haven’t forgotten, but Father’s Day is coming up! The creation of Father’s Day is credited to Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington. Her father was a Civil War veteran and had raised her and her five siblings after their mother died during childbirth. She wanted the day because at the time Mother’s Day was becoming established as a holiday. In 1966, President Lyndon B Johnson issued a proclamation that recognized June 19th as Father’s Day. It became a national holiday in 1972 when Richard Nixon designated the third Sunday of June as Father’s Day.
This year in 2022, Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 19th. This is actually the day a lot of countries outside the USA celebrate Father’s Day. That means there is still plenty of time to get your dad an awesome gift.
